Well im probably goin have the top end rebuilt 200cc 2 stroke. ive
never done it before myself looks kinda simple..but ill prob take it
off then bring it to someone..what would a fair price be in labor to
have that done..cause it really looks simple.

Rick Ritter at rittercycle.com charges $40 for a cylinder bore and also
has new Wiseco piston and ring sets for around $90. So with shipping
charges, etc ... you'd be looking at around $150

Not a bad price, but again, I'd stay away from a Wiseco unless you're
prepared to let it warm up *thoroughly* before you ride.. Until those
forged pistons and the cylinder are BOTH up to temp, you risk a cold
sieze..

Hit up Bike Bandit and price your parts then call Racer's Toy Store in
Escondido, CA for a quote. Ship 'em your jug and piston and they'll
do it right the 1st time. I use them for all my cylinder/piston
fitting.

Doing the job is quite easy. A few socket wrenches and a screwdriver
to remove the circlips holding the wrist pin in place is all you need.
The only "difficult" part is getting the cylinder down over the piston
without the rings spinning on the piston and coming off the guide
"pins" in the ring groove.

Spend the $30 on a Clymer's manual and follow the directions. Easy
Saturday project.

Might I add , ALWAYS stuff a rag down in the bottom end when removing the
circlips ! Seen it happen with a friend of mine , "$hi+" " I just had the
circlip come off and fall down into the bottom end"
You will ONLY do it once !

Mine sounds the same cold as it does when warm. No knocking or
rattling.

I bought a '85 Suzuki LTR250 Quadracer from a local dealer and it
knocked and rattled like crazy when it was cold. I was told the same
thing your "guy" told you. 3 months later, the piston let go and
filled the case with shrapnel.

I had my buddy rebuild the motor and he determined the piston to
cylinder clearance was way too big.. I ended up getting the shop to
pay for the repairs because I was told the bike had a fresh top-end
when I bought it. Yeah, they put a new piston in it and honed the
cylinder, but the clearances were wrong.
