Has anyone pulled the gas tank off their 660 grizz?? I just got done doing my
valve adjustment at 1400 miles.. I was not able to get the fuel shut off
extension off.. Usually these things are held on with a screw in the hole.. No
such setup on my grizz.. Ended up draining the fuel tank and wrestling it off..
Was not pretty but nothing broke.. There must be an easier way??
At least it was worth my effort.. I found all three intake valves tight..
adjusted to spec.. exhaust valve clearences were fine.. She idles much smoother
now..
But for the next valve adj.. I would like to know how to take that fuel
shutoff extension off so the tank just lifts off rater than the twist tug and
turn method..
Thanks

Philips screw.......that is what holds on the extension. It is pretty far
down in, so make sure you are using a long enough screw driver.

Or, you can take the whole thing right off of the gas tank. 2 philips screws
hold it to the tank, all you need is a long screw driver to get to them.

Either way is easy.

HAven't looked at it closely but I lost the petcock a couple months ago..
Got it replaced and the dealer told me it fell because the screw had gotten
loose. So I figure there must be a screw somewhere...?

mmm have to double check on the screw theory.. I checked with a flashlight and
all I saw was a flat rivet head. I also took a small flat and poked around and
did not feel a screw head... But then maybe it was packed with mud in there..
thanks for the info..

What year Grizzly?

There is a screw on my 02 and my buddy's 03, maybe they changed it for 04.

If there isn't a screw on yours, just take out the 2 screws that hold the
petcock to the tank.....just as easy to do.
